ARTIST TAKEOVER: DAY 5

DAY 5 [am]

This short animation uses images of a nail recorded at regular intervals along a length of a 2 meter ruled line. Using light and shadow to further indicate time and movement, I have explored ways to bring life and meaning to a discarded object. This animation was a result of a Curatorial Play workshop at UCA Farnham under the title ‘Relative Limits’. It is called ‘2 meter rule’ in response to the new social distance we had to get used to under coronavirus conditions.

DAY 5 [am]

The stage is set for the development of the next phase of this work. In conjunction with a select quantity of objects I have looked at the possibilities of placement and decided to add elements of a game to establish position. Like a chess board the pieces work their way from the edges infiltrating the central spaces.

DAY 5 [pm]

An introduction begins… In ‘A Field Guide to Leftover Matter’ I have included a film clip of my work to be shown in next weeks online show, ‘Beyond the Boundaries’. This is the MA Online Interim Show and will be displayed on this very instagram platform between 2 - 21 March. Beginning with a zoom launch hosted by @louiseashcroft on the 2nd March from 3-4.30pm, @undertowprojects will then exhibit artworks and talks at regular intervals over the 3-week period.
